How can we teach kids to energy conservation in school?

It is critical for school students to learn about recycling, water conservation, Energy reduction. The aim is increasing Environmental knowledge, promoting environmental attitudes and increasing pro-environmental behaviors.

“How can we teach kids to energy conservation in school?” is a simple question with a complex answer.

Now a days, Energy usage and conservation is an important topic and everyone should participate in this noble act.

In this blog, we are going to explore the answers to the best ways to conserve energy instead of wasting it.

The teacher must explain it in simple way by giving and relating the examples of use of Energy in day to day life. i.e. some one is charging his/her phone at home. However, It is just like the light bulb, you need to remember to unplug this when not in use, because even plugged into socket unattached to a phone it is using electricity.

HOW TO EXPLAIN ENERGY CONSERVATION TO KIDS

Start with a energy conservation it self, including where it comes from what it is. Try to keep the conservation age and explanation with fun. Create some sort of game by which you can explain with then with joy and fun.

GIVE GUIDENCE ON PREPARATION OF CHECKLIST

Once kids are aware with purpose and definition of Energy conservation and they are excited about saving energy, one may set out with a daily checklist for each person in the household.

Present a concept in innovative way by turning checklist in to game and result of game may turn some sort of energy savings.

Think about ways their family might waste energy. Are the kids always leaving the lights on or the windows closed if there is sunlight outside? Add the similar kind of things to checklist.

TEACH THEM TO MONITOR ENERGY CONSUMPTION OF THEIR HOME

Prepare simple calculator by which they can calculate, estimate their savings, and They can add that in to their piggy bank.

Power Loss due to Soil Losses in Solar PV Module

Soiling Losses and Its effect on Solar and PV Modules: Before, We move ahead with the topic, It is important to know that what are soiling losses. The term Soiling is used to describe the accumulation of dirt, leaves, dust and bird dropping on Solar and PV Panels.  The efficiency of the PV solar panels is largely dependent on the ambient conditions and several factors come into the picture to determine the actual efficiency of panels during their operation. One such factor is soiling.  However, in a practical sense, the definition of soiling could be much wider than that. For instance, many researchers concluded from their research that bird droppings can significantly bring down panel efficiency and hence, they are also considered while calculating the soiling losses.  How Soiling affects panel and Its Performance:  Degradation of Panel Output: Dust and Soil will cover the PV cells once it is accumulated. It will bring down voltage and current output of the pa...

Energy conservation Vs Technology: Which comes with high impact?

It is too difficult to say that which comes with high impact whether is it Energy Conservation or is it Technology? What do you think? Energy conservation  plays a critical role of lowering climate change. It emphasis the replacement of non-renewable resources with renewable energy. Energy conservation is often the most inexpensive solution to energy shortages. As we are aware that we have limited quantity of non-renewable energy resources available on earth, it is most important to conserve and preserve energy from our existing supply or to utilize renewable resources so that it is also available to our future generations. Technology is important because it makes you fell more secure with every area in life for both personal and business reasons. With Technology advancement many impossible tasks are possible i.e to provide drinking water to people by collecting water from dew. If We want to conclude both are most important to survive in today's world. Please watch out...

Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS)

This blog is about reducing or eliminating carbon dioxide at point sources such as process industries, power plants etc.  CO2 capture and sequestration is a set of technologies that can greatly reduce CO2 emissions from new and existing coal and gas fired power plants, and large industrial resources. You might had heard about Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) or Carbon Control and Sequestration or Carbon Capture and Sequestration. It is methodology of capturing waste gases i.e CO2 and conveying it to a storage location and finally disposing it where it will not enter the atmosphere. CCS is basically three step process that includes: Capture CO2 from industrial process or power plant Transport of the captured and compressed CO2 Underground injection and geologic sequestration also referred to as storage of the CO2 in to deep ground rock formation.  Importance in combating Global Warming: It is well known that CO2 is greenhouse gas and It is primary contributor ...

CO2 Separation Technologies: Pre-combustion CO2 Capture System

Pre-combustion CO2 Capture System CO2 removal methods are newer and less prevalent and are being studied. This methods is more like a damage control method given that it is implemented after CO2 generation. Fossil fuel partially, oxidized , said in gasifier Resulting syngas (CO and H2O) is shifted into CO2 and more H2 Resulting CO2 can be captured from a relatively pure stream of H2. The H2 can be used as fuel This technology for pre-combustion is widely applied in fertilizer , chemical, gaseous fuel (H2 ,CH4) and power production.    We will see more methods on CCS in upcoming blogs. watch this space for more..

Comparison between removing CO2 and reducing CO2

Removal of CO2 emission: This is the process of extracting carbon dioxide from flue gases or extracting the carbon from Fuel. This method is more like a damage control method given that it is implemented after CO2 generation.  CO2 removal methods are newer and less prevalent and are being studied. Reduction of CO2 emission: This is the methodology to ensure that the amount of CO2 produced as exhaust is low. This method is more like a preventive method given that it is implemented to prevent or reduce damage due to CO2 CO2 reduction methods are being studied too but many methods have been in use for a long time and are prevalent Importance of both in combating Global Warming: It is well known that CO2 is a greenhouse gas and It is primary contributor to Global warming. Carbon Capturing and Sequestration (CCS) can play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For Example, a 100 MW plant emitting 0.6 trillion tons of CO2, green house gas saved is equivalent to: Pla...
